Shaking his head lightly, he finished pulling off the rest of his armor and set it aside in a neat pile. "Look, I don't want anything from you, honest. It's your choice wether or not to trust me... I'll be downstairs, getting myself a dinner. Feel free to come down if you would like anything..."

Uh-oh....Byako froze. Knowing any elf, he'ld be able to sense a daemon. Byako raced back to the woman who he lived in. The girl sighed in relief at the daemons quick move. If she was to be discovered to be demon possessed...who knew what would happen.

She nodded slowly, "Alright," but made no move to get up immediately. It would be a little while before she'd be warm enough to leave the fireside. Besides, she'd no money for food and didn't want to owe this man more than she already did.
As he left, she let the illusion drop and she sighed softly as her wings shimmered into view and she was able to stretch them fully. It got so cramped keeping them against her back all the time like she had to in order to have the illusion even come close to working. As it was, she could only keep them hidden for so long before the illusion wore off and...

With a small yawn, Lyiat stole down the steps of the inn once again, taking a seat at an empty table and looking about. He rested his elbows on the table and placed his chin on his hands, propping himself up. Nothing really caught his interest, however...
He stood up and walked over to the barkeep and asked for another blood wine, thinking over the events of the day. He smiled to the barkeep as he passed the wine down to him, keeping sure to keep his mouth shut as he did.

He certainly is odd....The girl mused half to herself, half to her magical companion. She leaned one elbow on the table top and then rested her hand on her palm. Byako grumbled at her, his deep voice almost a purr to her ears. what makes you think that? The girl gave the cat a toothy grin that, if anyone else had scene it, would have made them wonder if she was sane to be smiling at nothing. Nothing really. I've just never heard of a male who has ever NOT jumped at the opportunity to take advantage of a woman. She paused for a moment before continuing. Especially a woman who was in as weakened a condition as that woman was.

The fire slowly warmed her until she was very conscious of the growling in her stomach. Very conscious indeed. She also was fully aware of the pain in her feet. She lifted one and examined the torn flesh, picking out glass and sand and various other debris that had was clogging the wounds. It wasn't until they bled freely and clean that she stopped. Perhaps she could get some cloth to wrap them in? Just some rags. How much could that cost?
Standing, she carefully hid her wings and ears with illusion again and then she limped downstairs. The barkeep wasn't her favorite person in the world - she could tell he didn't like humans by the way he stared at her with utter disdain. "Please, master, could this unworthy servant have some rags to bind her feet with so as to not sully your floors with blood?" she kept her head bowed and voice soft as she made the request.
The bartender didn't care that she was bleeding, the wood absorbed the stuff and the crimson gave it more color, in his opinion. And who the hell was she to make such a request? Surely her master couldn't let her get away with this and he considered it an act of mercy when he backhanded her across the face. "You should know better, slave. You are lucky your master didn't witness such an act."
Kesai crumpled as the contact came - not having the strength to defend against the large man's meaty fist crashing into her cheekbone. Instead of snivelling or crying, she picked herself up, "Yes sir. This slave apologizes for the slight." Her head was ducked and a hand lifted to press against the red and rapidly bruising cheek.

Lyiat took a few more sips of his drink before setting it down, closing his eyes, falling deep into his own thoughts. He didn't even understand himself why he had taken the woman in, but he simply could not stand by and watch her suffer. He was startled from his thoughts, however, as his sensitive elven ears caught the sound of knuckles bashing bone.
Lyiats eyes snapped open just as Kesai was hit again. Anger flaired through him. How dare that man touch her!? Before he quite understood what he was doing, his rapier was out and he strood across the inn floor, his face set in a snarl. "What the hell do you think your doing!?" He roared.

The fool...The girl growled, rising from her seat indignantly. Slave or not, that is no way to treat any living being. Her eyes narrowed and flashed red briefly beneath the cowl of her cloak. This is no time to jump into the hero game, welp... Byako warned her. And what the hell am I supposed to do? Ignore it?! No one should be treated that way! She ignored any further comments from the daemon as she made her way silently to the commotion and stood behind one of the great supporting beams that ran from floor to ceiling. There she waited, hoping she could be of some help to the two if need be.

The barkeep looked up, "Sparing her your wrath, sir. She was being forward and I thought..." he frowned, "She is a human, sir. Surely you can't be concerned about a bruise, they're resiliant creatures." He dismissed the girl with a flick of his fingers - he really did think he was doing her a favor, didn't he?
Kesai limped back a few paces, her head low, "He is right. I am a slave, sir. Do... do not..." she winced, face a mask of pain and unhappiness before she retreated towards the stairs.

Fire seemed to fill his eyes, making them appear as two forests aflame. His hand gripped his weapon as he locked gazes with the man, his gaze searing hot like the fires of hell itself. Energy crackled about his weapon as magic flowed from his body into it.
"Did I give you permission to touch her?" He said calmly, far to calmly for the anger burning in his eyes. "Nay, nay I did not. I am the one who determines if she deserves punishment. Not you!" His voice echo'd in the tavern room.
Lyiat flicked his finger up, pointing at the barkeeps throat. "I sware, if I ever catch you so much as looking at her the wrong way, I'll make sure you never open you eyes again, understand!?" As if to reinforce his point, white-hot energy sparked from his fingernail.

A black hand shot out from behind the wooden beam. " Be careful my friend. Now is most assuredly not a good time nor place to get into a rowe. The girl is safe. I think it would be smart to calm yourself and put away your weapons." Silver orbs stared out from the hood of the cloak, pointedly glaring at the barkeep. "you, my un - mannered friend, should best learn to think before you act If indeed. The next time you don't might be the last action you ever take." The girl left the threat hanging as she removed her hand from the elfs arm, turned and walked to the taverns door.

She nearly panicked as her newfound protector stepped up. Not thinking, she dropped the illusion and stood between them, wings and arms spread, head lowered slightly. The black feathered wings were glossy, shot through with hints of blue and green at the edges of the feathers and ears were delicately pointed. No, there was no denying her fae heritage - but at the same time she was unquestionably human. A halfbreed. Ugh, reviled and feared by all that were full bloods and the humans alike. "Do not trouble yourself on my behalf, Lyiat. Please. There is no need for you to get arrested for my sake - please..." the voice was different. Richer. More full and definitely more powerful - as per her heritage.

He stared at her, amazed by the sudden shift in her features and attitude. Well... I guess that explains a few things... he thought to himself for a moment. The elf shook his head slightly, still brandishing the weapon. "Arrested for what? Defending you from this... this scum? He should be the one locked up!" His voice was a growl, almost feral.
With a scrowl, he slid his weapon back into it's shieth, letting it hang, his eyes burning holes into the man as he glaired at him over the fae's shoulders. Kasei, however, in Lyiat's loss of control and temprament, noticed a small glint about his teeth, and his face had become slightly sharper. He seemed to thrum with a bearly contained energy, just waiting to expload at the barkeeper for striking his percived friend. "... If he goes near you again..." He let the threat hang, much like the drow had done before.

You call the barkeep a fool yet you charge blindly in without taking the time to understand who you're even standing next to. Byako snarled. That elfs a vampire. That human? She's half Fae. And you, welp, are an idiot. "Oh shut up." The drow girl mumbled as she leaned against the taverns wall. A fae, huh? And you didn't realize this before?
Hardly. I could sense the girls magic.
The drow frowned.

She had to do some quick thinking because the bartender was staring wide-eyed at her like she was going to mutate into some terrible monster. Wings folded and vanished, ears became rounded and the fire in her eyes faded. "I've... I've caused enough trouble." She slid around Lyiat and made for the door, moving as fast as her wounded feet would allow. She was warm, anyway and... she'd blown what little cover she'd had. Now it was best to get the hell out of there while she still could.
What the hell was wrong with her? Dropping her illusion like that... she berated herself thoroughly as she stepped out the door and back into the cold and snow. It hit her like a punch in the gut after the warmth of the fire and indoors and she had to take a deep breath before she forced herself to step back into the drifting flakes and off the threshold. Best to get away from here as fast as possible.
