Lyiat came up to the doorway and pushed it open, letting the light filter out from the mainroom into the dark, snowfilled night. He held the door open for her, stepping aside, his smile still the one he wore outside. "After you." He said softly.
The reason for his smile? He hated coming here. It was, however, the only place he could ever really run to. So, he kept a false smile and suckered up to the owner.

She slipped in before him, the warm air hitting her and enfolding her in its embrace so that she sighed in pure pleasure. Ecstacy was a warm fire. It was great until her feet started tingling and aching and her fingers followed suit. Oh, it hurt! Kesai sucked in a breath through her teeth in a quiet hiss. Patrons turned and stared openly at her - what the bloody hell was a human doing in a place like this, after all?
She kept her head down and her eyes averted, not wanting to draw more attention to herself than her mere presence would already do - the bright green eyes were half lidded in an attempt to, perhaps, hide them.

Lyiat kept close hand to her girl, his hand coming up to rest lightly on her shoulder, clearly showing that she was with him. He glaced around to the patrions faces before going up to the bartender and placing a few gold pieces on the counter before nodding. Without really speaking, he took down a key from the wall behind him and handed it to the elf, who nodded in thanks and handed it over to his 'slave'. "Go up and rest if you want... I'll be a few moments. Don't forget to lock the door."

She nodded to him, accepting the key and bowing slightly before she scurried off, leaving bloody footprints - she'd be easy to follow. The innekeeper frowned at her back as she ran off. Bloody poor excuse for a slave, a shake of the man's head. "You really ought to train 'er be'er," the man grumbled, pointing at the girl's retreating back. "She doesn't act properly deferential."
Kesai wasn't paying attention to him, in fact she was intentionally ignoring all of them as she went upstrairs and found the room, entering the room and lighting the candles and fire in an effort to provide light and heat. The girl shed the cloak, folding it and laying it on the bed as she scooted closer to the flames. Warmth. Blessed, hated warmth. She rubbed her hands together vigerously, trying to get them to stop aching. Warm. Warm. Warm!

He frowned at him in return, crossing his arms slightly and leaning back on the barstool. "I don't tell you how to keep your Inn, do I? Do not tell me what to do with my things. I just got her, and she was treated very, very poorly."
He sighed softly, leaning forward to rest on the bartable. "... Just get me the useal, please." He said softly, accepting the blood wine glass the barkeep had already prepared for him.

The bartender grunted and slid the wine across the bar and shrugged, "Well with an attitude like that I can see why," the man grunted.

He took a small sip of the wine, letting the liquid swish around in his mouth for a moment before swallowing. Strange, either the bartender had forgotten to water down the wine today, or the glasses were clean for once. He was betting on the latter. Lyiat took another drink from the wine before setting it back down on the bar, standing up.
He moved up the steps, gliding across the floor, heading to the room he had rented for the night. He wanted to check up on the girl.

She was curled in front of the fire, close as she could get without setting her clothes aflame. Fingers massaged her hands and feet, slowly restoring feeling and face was wet with tears of pain as the pins and needles sensation gave way to a deep and unyielding ache. Still shivering with the remenants of the bone-shattering freeze she'd been in for so long, she seemed fragile and about to break.
Long hair fell across her face as she focused on rubbing the chill from her muscles, she didn't seem to notice the tangled red locks in her eyes. For a moment, she didn't even appear to register that he'd entered the room, though it didn't take long before she jumped and looked up at him, appearing as though she felt guilty for something. For what, one couldn't imagine because she wasn't doing anything worthy of reprimand.

Silver eyes watched the exchange, finding the pair of more interest than the banter and talk that surrounded her. She shrugged her cloak higher onto her shoulders before shying further back into the shadows. The darkness of the corner was more comfortable to her than the warmth of the fires light.
She had come here to escape the pursecution of her own family. But now...she was starting to fear persecution from others. She was an outcast from her own family and race. Silver eyes narrowed. This is all your fault daemon... She growled in her head. I wouldn't be here if you hadn't come along.
She got no reply, which she was thankful for.

He tilted his head slightly, looking her up and down once again, wondering why she suddenly had a guilty look on her face. He walked over to his discarded cloak and picked it up lightly, smiling. "Huh... Most people would of just thrown it on the floor." He mused aloud.
He set the garment back down and began removing the armor encasing his body and keeping him uncomfortable. "So, would you like any food? Water perhaps?" He said lightly as he looked up at her, loosening the straps of the chest piece.

She shrunk just a little closer to the fire, shaking her head, "No, I'm fine." A lie. Her stomach silently made itself known to be hungry and she ignored it as best she could. She didn't throw it on the floor, it was a matter of... not quite respect, but more a matter of not wting to earn his dislike.
Shifting her body on the hard floor, she looked at the flickering, hungry flames and exhaled softly, "Why are you helping me?" the question was flat, as though she expected some sort of distasteful answer. The almost emaciated body curled in on itself and she hugged her knees to her chest, chin resting atop the bony joints.

The daemon gave her a growl in disgust at what the girl asked him to do. Spy on them...Why does she care what they were doing? The cat like creature thought to himself as he gnashed his fangs together. Hush up Byako and just tell me whats going on. The daemon snarled at her. Why had he been bonded to such a welp? Forcing him to stalk through the inn just to spy on an elf and a human in his elemental form was a bit low for even him. But he did it anyway. Honestly, its not like I'm gonna attack them you scaredy cat. I'm just....curious about them. The girl told him as the daemon cat floated up the stairs. Byako gave a hissing laugh which made the cloaked figure open her eyes indignantly. Curiosity killed the cat you know. The girl grinned. True. But your not dead yet. SO what are you complaining about?

Taken aback, he blinked slightly. Where did that question come from? he pondered, but, then again, a rightful question... why AM I helping her? He sighed a small bit, casting the leather chestpeice aside and now loosening the bracers. "... Why am I helping you? Well... because I can, I suppose. It's been forever sense I've had any sort of companion..."
He let the braces drop from his arms before looking up at her. "... You didn't think I had anything horrible in mind, did you?"

Eyes turned from the fire, the dark green gaze watching him with disconcerting clarity and intelligence. For a human, she seemed to have an awful lot of smarts and be very... sure of herself. Fear, yes, that was easy to read in the green eyes - but there seemed to be an icy calm covering all. Like one who had gone one step off the edge of a cliff and knew that she was going to fall and accepted it.
"I do my best not to expect anything, that way I'm not disappointed." Seemed valid enough, she turned the piercing look away from him and back to the fire. "People rarely do things because they are philanthropists these days, everyone has a motive. Even if they don't know it yet." Oh my, she seemed jaded.

Upon discovering the room the two were occupying, Byako relayed the conversation that went on within. When he repeated what the male had said, the girl downstairs broke into a nervous, silent laugh. Her mind had immediantly suspected something along those lines. She was glad she was wrong. And here I thought daemons were the ones with sick minds.....Byako thought. The girl grumbled as the cat returned to listening. 'I do my best not to expect anything, that way I'm not disappointed.' Thats a smart way of working through things...The girl mused. Wish I'ld thought of doing that sooner or I wouldn't be here...
